Hemel Hempstead Old Town is full of historic character and charm, with many listed buildings set within a conservation area. It is close to Gadebridge Park and, with St Mary's Church as a centrepiece, is an attractive place for people to enjoy.
It is home to many independent businesses offering a range of goods and services. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee and a cake, hunt for unusual gifts, browse the vintage and antique shops or to enjoy being pampered at one of the many barbers, hairdressers or beauticians.
Hemel Hempstead Old Town is also the perfect place for a night out. There is a wide selection of restaurants covering many cuisines, a gin bar and several friendly pubs all located in the historic buildings. You can even enjoy a night at the theatre at Hemel Old Town Hall.
St Mary’s Church with its famous spire, the tallest of its type, is located at the heart of the town and is a wonderful community hub. The building plays host to the monthly market during the winter months.

Hemel Old Town is a popular filming location in Hertfordshire. In 2019 both Endeavour and Afterlife 2 were filmed here.
